A pilot, his car, a track, and a time to beat. This sums up the philosophy of Camo Tuning.
1993 was the birth of a performance shop by racers and for racers. Long before the notion of modified compact cars became popular, these amateur pilots were already involved in pushing the power envelope of small-displacement-driven compact cars. Even then, Camo Tuning pushed the limits of their vehicles, from the powertrain, to the suspension and brakes.
Over the years, the team at Camo Tuning has never stopped learning and advancing in their technical knowledge, thanks to the best education there is: the race course. Whether it’s in ice racing, rallye, or rallye sprint, the team at Camo has developed its knowledge through the successes and the failures of its cars and the pilots who drive them.
To perform on the track, a car must not only be powerful, agile and manoeuvrable. It must also be able to stop!
Camo Tuning has built and maintained the cars of several highly regarded racers in their respective fields, such as Benoit Labossière’s Volkswagen Golf, Jean-Sébastien Besner’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and Bertrand Lambert’s Eagle Talon Tsi AWD, to name a few.
But Camo Tuning’s experience is not just with competitive race cars. Camo Tuning has also used its expertise to prepare performance street cars for the greater enjoyment of their owners. They have many successful projects at this level.
François Villeneuve’s 95 Eagle Talon, which is still being developed, has already run the quarter mile in the low 12 seconds at nearly 117mph. This is a full-weight car with working air conditioning, a sound system, and weighs over 3400 pounds with driver (heavier than a Mustang).
Or how about Prelude B22 or an Integra B18 motor swaps into the chassis of the popular Honda Civic? Camo has also turbocharged Honda engines to generate phenomenal power from these little motors.
Volkswagen also holds an important place at the heart of the Camo Tuning team. As one of the first compact performance cars, Volkswagen continues to be a very interesting choice at this level. In this area, we have many successes. Golfs 2 converted to VR6 engines, or even with a G60 supercharger. Or even modified naturally-aspirated motors that can produce enough power to spank turbo motors! Truly, Volks has a special place in our hearts!
But the projects still to come are even more exciting. Those will be on other models and other manufacturers, such as Toyota, Porsche, and BMW. So come to us with your vehicle, whatever the brand, to discuss your projects with us. It would be our pleasure to be involved!!! |
